Our family has worked this ranch in Gaviota since 1975. In 2017, we started selling our meat directly to neighbors under the name Pork Palace, for the simplest reason: to give them the same food our own family ate. Jennifer and David Bishop joined us in 2018, and in 2021 we became Santa Barbara Meat Co. The name changed. The idea hasn't.
On our ranch we raise 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef and lamb, heritage Berkshire pigs in outdoor pens, pasture-raised goat, and free-range poultry. When demand outgrows our land, we work with a small group of California partner ranches and producers we know personally. No feedlots, ever.
Every animal is harvested at a USDA-inspected facility in California. It then comes back to the butcher shop we built here on the property, where our own team cuts every steak by hand and makes every sausage.
No added hormones.* No routine or growth-promoting antibiotics. If an animal gets sick, we treat it. It's the food we've always been proud to put on our own table, and now it can be on yours.
*Federal regulations prohibit the use of hormones in pork, poultry, and goat.
